Bernard B. Toler

Bernard B. Toler, 73, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:04 P.M., Thursday, January 22, 2004 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Bernard was an electrician for the coal mines for forty-two years.  He retired from Captain Mine at Percy in 1993.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and a member of UMW of A Local 1392.  He was know all through grade school and highschool as a basketball player and had played for Msgr. Hafner with the Sacred Heart Owls for many years.
He was born May 23, 1930 at Du Quoin, IL, the son of Earl and Goldie (Foster) Toler.
He married Donna Seibert on October 11, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, three sons - Steve Toler and wife Sharon of Du Quoin, Brian Toler of Du Quoin, Neal Toler of Du Quoin, daughter-in-law - Kathy Toler of Du Quoin, five grandchildren - Matthew Toler and wife Leticia of DeKalb, IL, Kelly Toler and Neilly Toler both of West Palm Beach, FL, Kelsey Toler and Kate Toler both of Du Quoin, two step grandchildren - Haley and Jerry Kuhnert, brother - Russell Phillips of Benton, brother-in-law and sister-in-law - Frank (Bud) Seibert Jr. and Phyllis of Brodhead, WI, two nieces - Peggy Toler of Portland, OR, Cheryl Lynn Carr of Houston, TX, two nephews - Gary Toller of Las Vegas, NV and Daryl Hatfield of Carlsbad, NM, several cousins, other relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son - Kevin E. Toler, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 26, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
Friends called after 5 P.M., Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Rosary was prayed at 9:30 A.M., Monday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund or to Masses.
